Acupuncture
Mellissa Adair, R.Ac, BSc
Acupuncture is the gentle insertion of very fine needles. This process stimulates the body’s natural healing abilities to promote physical and emotional well being. At the same time, Acupuncture also helps to prevent illness by improving the overall functioning of the body’s immune system and organ systems. Acupuncture is therefore helpful for: Treating existing illnesses and injuries Preventing recurrence of illnesses Improving overall health
Initial Consultation A full assessment is needed in order to begin acupuncture treatment. In order to develop a trusting and therapeutic relationship with the Acupuncturist, a thorough history will be conducted. This history enables the therapist to reveal and target issues with the body and mind.
Treatment Every person is unique and continually evolving. Sessions are tailored to each client’s needs and goals at time of treatment. A variety of therapies are used in addition to the use of needles. These therapies include, but are not limited to: Acupressure, Cupping, Tui Na, Electric Stimulation
Acupuncture Treats Many Conditions Back and Joint Pain…. sciatica, arthritis, tennis elbow Stress Management … headaches & migraines insomnia, anxiety attacks, palpitations Women’s Health ….. painful/irregular periods, PMS, menopause, infertility Digestive Disorders… IBS, constipation, colitis Respiratory and Sinus Conditions … asthma, hay fever, bronchitis, frequent colds Skin Conditions… eczema, acne, dermatitis Circulatory Problems… high/low blood pressure Facial RejuvenationFacial rejuvenation acupuncture is a safe, painless, non-surgical way of reducing signs of aging. Facial rejuvenation is more than a cosmetic procedure; it is a revitalization treatment designed to help the face and entire body to look and feel younger.
The superficial insertion of acupuncture needles will increase the local circulation to the face and stimulate collagen production, which will fill out the lines and give firmness to the skin for a healthy, glowing complexion.
Treatment Treatment usually consists of 10-12 sessions given 1-2 times per week. The effects of treatment become most noticeable and lasting around the seventh session, although many will notice improvement much sooner.
